There’s a lot to do in Final Fantasy XIV, and having enough Gil is essential. You can spend it on new gear, a beautiful house, or a nice dinner for your friends.
Gil is the currency of Eorzea and can be earned by completing quests, Guildleves, Duty Finder tasks, FATEs, killing monsters, and selling items on the Market Board.
- Selling on the Market Board
One of the most reliable ways to make gil in Final Fantasy XIV is by selling your goods on the Market Board. Players can sell everything from furniture and items to unique dyes. The Beast Tribe quests in particular are a great way to earn money because they can sell for high prices, especially if you have the Guildleves to unlock them.
Players can also offer their items, raw materials, ore, and furniture through Retainer Ventures that will provide them with a steady stream of money over time. These are done through a Delivery Moogle, who is easily spotted around the game’s settlements. Gatherers and Crafters can make a lot of Gil by selling their items to players, and new content can be an excellent opportunity for this due to many players not knowing about the items and nodes yet.
- Flipping
Using the Market Board as a flipping platform is one of the best ways to make gil in FFXIV. This method requires a high level crafting profession but makes for quick and easy money. Especially after a new patch, when prices jump.
Gathering classes such as Miner and Botanist can spot “Unspoiled” gathering locations that give players a higher profit margin for items. Finding items that have few existing sellers reduces undercutting and saves time spent staring at the Market Board. Map dungeons are another great way to get cheap ffxiv gil bun. If you’re lucky, you can walk out of the dungeon with far more gil than you invested in the map in the first place.
- Farming
If you have a Disciple of the Hand or Land Job (Miner, Botanist, Weaver, Alchemist), farming can be an excellent way to make Gil. While it may take some time to acquire the materials needed to farm, it can be worth it in the long run.
Enemies drop Gil in small amounts after battle, and the amount can be increased by using the Trickplay ability Gold Mountain. Players can also sell equipment, Materia, and items for their gil value.
The only caveat here is that you need to ensure you are selling items for more than the cost of the materials you used to produce them. This will prevent you from becoming a negative-gil farmer. Additionally, players can use the Treasure Maps to collect Skysteel Scrips, which are traded on the Market Board for a substantial amount of Gil.
- Killing Bosses
As a general rule, players can make gil by doing any in-game activity, such as completing quests, guildleves, dungeons, or selling items. This is a fairly passive way to earn money in the game, and it can add up quickly.
Gil can also be obtained by killing enemies. Defeating monsters will drop a variable amount of Gil, and the amount will increase if the player kills more enemies without taking any damage. Likewise, certain NPCs will also drop Gil when killed. Gil can also be traded with other players via mail, the Market Board or FC chest. This is by far the fastest way to get a large sum of Gil, and is not considered illegal in the game. However, some players find this method to be obnoxious and consider it pay-to-win.
- Selling Items
In FFXIV, players will sometimes sell items they have either made themselves or acquired from the game. This includes everything from gil to crafting materials to food and potions.
This is especially popular before new patch launches as many players will be looking to stock up on items they can't buy on their servers. However, the profitability of this method can vary depending on how late into a patch cycle it is. One of the most profitable things a player can do in FFXIV is to become a Crafter or Gatherer. These are jobs that can make a great amount of money by making high-level gear and selling it to other players. This is a safe, reliable way to make money in the game.
